I can't say that I agree with your suggestion.
I translate it as this: "How about we turn away a large number of our
membership on every even-numbered month?"
In my opinion, one of the mandates of a LUG is to promote newbies and I
can't honestly see a good reason to exclude them from a full half of all
meetings.
I do suggest that this might be a good time to consider having SIG
meetings outside of our regular monthly meetings. We could have a
Newbie SIG, a Guru SIG, etc.
I do think that devoting half a year's worth of monthly meetings would
turn potential new members away, and we do need new members.
This post is CC'd to the VLUG Newbie list in hopes of garnering a more
public response to these ideas than the ones that have been expressed to
me personally in private.
