There was some discussion recently about this on the main list.  You
might want to browse the thread in the archives at:

I haven't used Kino at all, but I have been playing with Cinelerra.=20
I've got it running on a P3-733 with 384MB and it seems to work fine, so
take their minimum system requirements with a grain of salt.
