It's possible to do a reverse connection with VNC? The server software  
can initiate a connection to an instance of client software? How does  
that work? I am really interested!

What about having the remote systems create SSH tunnels that you could  
then use to manage the system with a variety of options (CLI, tunneled  
VNC, tunneled X, WebMin).  This gives you the added benefit of  
encrypting all data. SSH also supports data compression so you may see  
some other benefits as well.
