Thank you, Ryan. I have done it and it works.

Now, I have another problem with evolution on Kubuntu KDE 4. I was
working until a few day ago on Mandriva 2008.1. I ahve now taken to
Kubuntu and do not regret it.

However, when I go to peferences and go to edit===> preferences====>
editor's preferences ====>spell checking, I get no spell checking at
all and a warning that "the list of languages here reflects only the
languages for which you have a dictionary installed " I ahve installed
the language support for all five languages I am using normally, and it
works like aqcharm in Open Office org 2.4.

The question now is: what additional files should I instrall from adept
manager or whet else should I do?

Thanks in advance.
