Hello Stan,
To get the resolution you want, two conditions are required:
1. You really got the driver for your video card installed in your
system and referenced
from your xorg.conf file
2. Your xorg.conf has the right parameters to display the resolution you want.

As I told you before, you must read a lot about the xorg.conf syntax,
this is a good moment
for you, to learn and to get good expertise about video configuration on Linux.
