Yes I do think you would get a monthly reduction that way since that is what
we did. Years ago we took advantage of a program of Shaw's where they sold
(for a relatively modest fee) the used modem we had been renting from them
to us. Because of the dropped monthly rental charge for the modem the deal
completely paid off the cost of the modem in a year or so. Since we have
been using that owned modem ever since (and have not had to pay the monthly
rental the entire time) we have really reaped quite a financial advantage
from the deal. Anyhow, you should look carefully at what deal with Shaw you
can get now if you supply the modem (or perhaps you can still buy your
current rented modem from them quite inexpensively like we did).
