Wow, you seem... upset.  I can't really understand why, though.  I 
don't see where  disabling the standby button is Windows-only.

Maybe this is explained somewhere in the email that I didn't get, but I 
don't see where they are forcing anyone to use that software.  How 
could they even tell if you weren't?  The first link simply says that 
people may use it, not must.

Me too, but I've never used the button.  The previous modem I had from 
them didn't have one, IIRC.

Wouldn't the power switch be easier?

Why do you want to hit the Standby button so much?  I've never felt a 
desire to do so.  I'm more interested in keeping my network connection 
up than bringing it down.

I don't see why they're disabling the Standby button - maybe too many 
people are hitting it by accident and blaming them - but I can't see 
how it's a big deal.
