I have just fired up my new computer for the first time with Linux and I
must say I am most impressed. Never have I had such a flawless
installation! With some hesitation and a lot of research I decided I
would go with a nVidia chipset and video card. My hesitation was that
on two computers ago I had had all sorts of problems with nVidia video
cards but that was probably with Fedora 3, an early Suse or Mandrake.
It now seems the problems with nVidia cards have been resolved. I booted
with Fedora 8 KDE Live DVD which worked perfectly. After a little
checking I then installed which can't have taken more than about 5
minutes and again no problems so far. My next step is to download all
updates and get all my favourite tools, applications and transfer my
/home from my old machine. Will keep you posted.
My System:
AMD Athlone 64x2 5200 2.6GHz
ASUS M2N-SLI-DELUX motherboard
4 GB Ram
ASUS Extream N7300GT/HTD GeForce Video Card
3 x 250 GB SATA 3GHz Western Digital HD's
