It appears that my Mandriva problems with this device
may have been related to a faulty power supply.
The device driver was installed with the USB device
plugged in and the computer hanged.
After not being able to boot, and several other diagnostics,
I finally got to the point where I had everything stripped
from the mother board except the 'on switch' and the speaker;
still no post. Disconnecting the PSU and trying another allowed the
machine to post. So, today, I will replace that PSU.
The question is, is it only a coincidence that the PSU went?
or did the USB device cause the power supply failure.
Anyway, at this point I can't tell if Mandriva had problems wit the
driver, or the computer had problems to start with.
