This would be my cue to shit on gnumeric... :)

I tried to save a spreadsheet recently to a samba share. It failed due 
to the file being in use or some similar BS.

I then tried to save the file again. CRASH. Data loss.

Overall gnumeric is good, but caveat user here.

At least OpenOffice doesn't do stuff like that.
