Hello,
This doesn't have much to do with linux
other than I used gnumeric to do some calculations
to help visualize Canada's carbon emissions and
what it would take to remediate or even break even.
I thought perhaps people may be interested.
Canada averages
5.07 tonnes Carbon/per capita
Population of Canada 33,017,622
33,017,622 * 5.07 tonnes = 167,399,343.54 tonnes (2006)
Requires permanently burying 376,646,357.25 tonnes of wood
to remove from atmosphere.
Same as 753,292,714.497 cubic metres of wood at 500 kg/m3 density
Same as a cube of wood stacked 909 metres x 909 metres x 909 metres
=751,089,429 cubic meters of lumber.
An average of 548 million cubic meters of lumber produced
by canada each year.
I think I'd like an alternate energy source for
my computer...
Is anyone running on wind generation?
Peter
