There are some additional hassles getting it to work on a
64-bit machine though.
How does that work, by the way? Will some, but not all 32-bit
software work on it? I've read that a few distros suggest
installing a 32-bit system [just for now, until 64-bit is a
little better supported], which will work, but won't take full
advantage of the new architecture.
Anyway, the .tar.gz flash package contained only the plugin,
and a script. If you open a terminal and run the script, it
will put the plugin where Firefox expects to find it. No
worries.
Not so simple getting it set up to work with Opera
[unsupported, but it does seem to work]. In that case I had to
read the script very carefully, look for pathnames to figure
out where it would want to install the flash plugin if the
script hadn't refused to run [will only work if it detects a
supported browser on your system], and then put it where Opera
expects to find it. ;-P
