[Discuss] Kubuntu Persistent not as robust as full install?

I have had power failures while my Desktop computers were turned on in the past. Usually the worst thing that happened on startup was a forced disk check, which usually found a few things wrong but were fixed OK.
Following the recommendation of the manufacturer, I usually remove the battery from my laptop after it is fully charged if I am going to be running the computer on AC power for long periods of time (I normally only run it on the battery when I am travelling).
Yesterday, I accidentally unplugged the wrong cord, removing power to the laptop which was running Kubuntu (Persistent Mode). I was unable to boot it up into persistent mode. I could reboot safe graphics mode, but I was unable to recover my settings and newly installed software. Thus, I had to redo everything to get persistent mode working again, including reinstalling all the applications that I had lost.
Luckily, I keep all my documents on a partition of the Hard Drive, so I didn't lose any data except for a couple of very simple scripts in the home folder that are easy enough to remember anyway.
I am not sure if it was just a "fluke" that I lost everything in this case, or if this is a flaw in the Persistent Mode (i.e. no equivalent of checking the disks after an improper shutdown).
Everything seems to be working again, so this is just an information item for anyone else running Kubuntu (or maybe any distribution) in Persistent mode on a laptop with the battery removed.
