Yes, take your pick: Pascal, BASIC, Visual BASIC, SML, Quark/CAL, Perl,

Depends on what you mean by "simple programs for linux". If you mean
how to write hello world so that I can create some generic command-line
tools then no, I already know that. OTOH, discussions of Linux-specific
coding issues (POSIX API calls and such), then yes, very much so.

This is two questions in one:
- No, I don't normally attend meetins anymore
- Maybe, I might attend more meetings if the topics were suited for
experienced Linux users. Really depends on the topic and who's
presenting it.
