[Discuss] GoogleEarth and FontSize

Well.. this is driving me to drink. Installed GoogleEarth as per normal
bin file. Installs and run correctly, however the menu area of the app
has fonts so small that they are barely readable... I mean REALLY small.
Ubuntu 7.1 fresh install... new machine.
Only fixes found online do not repair the issue:
Fix 1: ~/.googleearth/Registry/google/googleearthplus/User/render/guifontsize
~/.googleearth/Registry/google/googleearthplus/User/render/guifontfamily
I tried all the way up to 36 with no effect and various font families.
Fix 2: Ensure Bitstream-vera font installed. $ apt-cache search bitstream-vera
Yes it is...ttf-bitstream-vera - The Bitstream Vera family of free TrueType fonts
NOTE: Text on the 3D window is fine - It is the menu, the search, places and the layers
sections that are too small to read.
Has anyone had this odd behaviour manifest itself? Anyone found a solution that
actually worked? I would mention the version of GoogleEarth, but I CAN"T READ IT ;-)
... off to search for another solution.
