[Discuss] Knoppix

This query refers to a previous thread regarding using Knoppix to copy 
and/or backup NTFS partitions and files.
When I load the Knoppix 5.1.1.iso disc into my laptop,(XP), Knoppix 
loads just fine and I can access my windows partition without difficulty.
However when I attempted to load it into my desktop machine, which is 
running Vista home premium, four penguins come up on the upper left of 
the screen, and after a long wait (about a minute) Knoppix text 
(multicoloured) comes up and informs me that it cannot find the knoppix 
files and suggests closing.
I can't find anything relevant in any of the discussion groups about 
this. Has anyone else run across this problem or know how to work around it?
What seems odd is that I have Kubuntu and Ubuntu iso discs, and they 
boot up on the Vista machine very smoothly. Unfortunately they do not 
seem to have the utilities to read/copy NTFS partitions.
Any help or pointers to where I might find the solution would be 
appreciated.
