Not my flame-war, but I would expect it to be *less*
Debian-compatible than Ubuntu, because it's further removed than
Ubuntu.
For example, most console programs will install straight from the
Debian repos without a hitch [on Xubuntu 6.10 here], but anything
with a GUI, or more accurately, with a long list of dependencies
gets kind of tricky.
