Hi,

To fix the menu entries problem you need to go into "System Settings" and then 
to "Regional and Language" and change the setting to US English. I had the 
same problem with my menus and that fixed it. (using Kubuntu Gutsy).

For the Adobe PDF reader you can go to Medibuntu.org and set up your 
repositories. There are a lot of other packages there that you might also 
need to play encrypted DVD's etc.
