One report on the web indicates that "applemark" is juts a caption
placed in the caption field of the image metadata. I suspect a corrupt
image file. If the other user sent it to you as is from the camera, then
the only other culprit would be receiving the image via email. Email is
not a safe way to transfer files. Have them send it to you again but
zipped up instead. I have not experienced any problems in working with
images direct from my olympus camera or from copies exported from iPhoto.
