I very much enjoyed Brent's presentation on Myth TV.

I was asked to post two URL's that might be of particular interest to
those getting into Video, regardless of platform. The first is primarily
a Windows site, but has some very useful information:

This link, as it's name implies, deals with understanding the video
source material.
http://digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/capture/understandsource.htm

This one is a good link to understanding capturing, and mpeg vs. avi and
other formats
http://digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/capture/intro.htm

There are other interesting articles on this site regarding timebase
correctors and stuff. Read at your leisure, remember though that this
info is a bit dated, though a lot of the info is releavant regardless of
platform/OS.

Another very good site for software tools, very many of which are GPL'd, is:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/

specifically interesting is the section on Linux tools:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/linux-video-tools

Enjoy,
Stacey F.
