No problem, glad I could help.  I thought I saw an O'Reilly book on Bash
at Bolen's.  I was raised by wolves myself (learned by example) and the
man page is quite good.  Also, a surprising number of system programs
are bash scripts, and they provide a lot of useful examples.  
Try `grep "#! /bin/sh' /usr/sbin/*`
