In System on my installation, there is no : Administration (so no
Software Sources)

In the Adept Package Manager, I don't see anywhere to select the
Software Sources.

In the Synaptic Package Manager, there are a lot of repositories listed,
but I couldn't find Acroread anywhere.

Thanks for the tip about /etc/sudoers. I THINK the problem is that I
just created the users using simple addgroup --guid <number for group>
<name of group> and adduser --gid <number of group> --uid <number for
user> <name of user> which did not make the user a member of any other
groups. I have probably now given too many privileges to the normal
user. I also neglected to make "root" a member of any of the
administration groups. I have not yet tried again to reboot the system.
Maybe it will work now, but I had some stuff I needed to do while things
were working.

Murray
