[Discuss] devfs in kernel source tree - 2.6.15

I've been using a Backports download of 2.6.15 for a while.  I was just
about to try devfs.  I have an odd problem ...

There is a "(kernel)/fs/devfs" directory, with a Makefile, base.c, and
util.c.  But it is NOT mentionned at all in "(kernel)/fs/Kconfig", so it
never shows up in "make menuconfig".

Now I'm not skillfull enough to start messing around in the source tree,
but any ideas what I'm missing?
