Its goal for a long time was F95, but now its new goal is F95/2003 (see
http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/GFortran). See links from that site about what is
still missing. gfortran has been completely fine for our needs for both our
fortran 77 and fortran 95 interfaces for PLplot, but you should try it
for yourself to see whether it meets your needs.
