"accucobol gt"? That sounds trippy.
We had a nice system for iload software on linux video applicances: We used debian
as the base distribution, and set up scripts to netboot and
automatically provision the drives as they came off the assembly line.
Assemble, plug into network, boot, watch progress, reboot, and all the
software was set up. We ran off a read-only disk image, much like a
live CD, but off the HD instead. Is was fast to set up a box, and quite
robust. I think my partner is free if you'd like to set up a system
like that.
What hardware are you running on?
