Am attempting to use my Canon PowerShot A540 digital camera with either
gtkam or gphoto2 under VectorLinux v5.8. With gtkam the camera is
detected properly and I am able to see the files on the camera's memory
card. However, when I try to view any file or see thumbnails the program
hangs.
Using gphoto2 from the command line and the command "gphoto2 --debug -L"
to list the files throws the error:
"PTP I/O error
24.020239 gphoto2-port(2): Closing port...
24.023918 context(0): An error occurred in the io-library ('Unspecified
error'): Could not query kernel driver of device."
I have the latest libgphoto2 libraries which, according to their
website, support this camera. I also have the correct udev rules for
this camera and have checked that with lsusb. The problem is obviously
not with camera detection. From the above error I suspect libgphoto2 but
I could be wrong. Any ideas greatly appreciated..
