Probably. :-) VLUG's humble beginnings [and not-so-humble peak]
were before my time, so I couldn't think of anything relevant to
say about that. Didn't mean to ignore it or anything, just that
I'm in no position to comment on it.

Yeah, I've wondered about that myself. It seems totally
backward, now that Linux is really taking off. The responses
make sense though [and thanks for those], along with the fact
that just about every distro has their own web forum.
That's not a bad thing at all. Although the basic, underlying
system and utilities are quite similar all across the board, the
specifics vary, and you're more likely to get a specific answer
to a specific question, pertaining to a specific distro, on that
distro's forum.
But these are all web based, not geographically based, and as
you've probably noticed, online forums leave something to be
desired. That's why I joined a club, in person.
By the way, I really liked what Yves Bajard said about that. No
can of worms at all, there.
