Yeah. :-)

If I understand correctly, money for VLUG isn't an issue right
now; there's a bit more coming in than getting spent, basically.
That could change if we start having meetings at the Big Blue &
Cousins clubhouse though, because they'd probably have to charge
a little to cover expenses. I don't know how those numbers
crunch though.

The real problem isn't money or paid-up membership, but getting
people [members or not] to participate more, and having more
activities for them to participate in.

So although it might cost a bit, I like the idea of moving some
or all meetings / presentations to BB&C. They have better
facilities, meaning we can find more interesting stuff to do with
the room. I also like what Stacy [hope I got his name right] said
last month about that; about getting some new blood, new people
involved from both clubs, in both clubs. I think we could help
eachother out, there.

BB&C is more of a computer-users club, not so much Linux *or*
Windows oriented. Some members have taken an interest in Linux
though, so people from VLUG would have a lot of interesting stuff
to share with them, including tips, tricks, basic usage help and
[without bashing anyone over the head with it] all the usual Free
Software agitprop. ;-)

As computer users ourselves, we could all have some fun comparing
notes on computers in general, regardless of what OS is running on
them.

Excuse me. Talked with Joan about this for a while after the
meeting, and hope it comes up formally at a future meeting.
Still more of a `what if' kind of thing right now, but in the
meantime, informally, what do you think?

And having said all that about money and membership not being an
issue right now... I still *like* being a member, and having a
membership card. Haven't actually used it for discounts anywhere,
but I like it. I like the quote from Linus Torvalds on the back,
too.

More of an intangible, `hey check this out; I'm an officially
recognized, card-carrying geek now!' status symbol though, to me
anyway. :-)

Thanks, you too,

Patrick.
