Been out of school a long time now and not planning a return anytime soon. So no homework!

Thanks to all who posted, I will try your suggestions. After some prep work. Have to install (or see if it's already done) Python and/or Perl it appears.
One point that was never answered (unless I missed it, or it was understood and I don't know enough to be able to tell) is whether any or all of the proposed solutions are platform dependant or not.
Can anyone enlighten me on that score?
