[Discuss] data recovery

         On another note (slightly related), I have a partition that 
has lost it's way. It was a primary FAT32 partition but a disk 
utility did something and now it sometimes shows up as an empty HFS+ 
partition or an empty (needing formatting) FAT32 partition.
         I don't know for sure, but I suspect that the disk utility 
that was used somehow had a brain fart and decided to begin 
formatting the FAT32 partition at the same time it was told to 
partition the free space as HFS+.
         My question is this. Is there some way I can get the data 
off of that partition? I have tried "flipping bits" but that does nothing.
