You might remember that I enquired some weeks ago about PCI-X video
cards for a G5. I was looking for a video card that was able to drive
a 3rd display.
Thank you all for the replies. I was at least able to learn that it
was possible to do so (even if one of the apple distributors in town
claimed otherwise).
My experiences with the APple dealers in town has been very
disappointing (and with Apple itself). There is never a clear
indication of what works or not on a given machine, and even
discovering what hardware is inside a computer is frequently difficult
(the case is the same, but the parts inside keep changing all the
time...).
TO make the story short I should acknowledge that after visiting the
4th apple dealer in town (I was running out of them) I ended at
Restart (on Bridge St). they were knowledgeable and prompt and
contacted me when they promised they would (something that at least
one other deader did not do). I am now the happy owner of a Radeon
9200 Mac edition and my G5 is able to drive 4 displays at once. I
could even add a TV as a 5th one! I feel like Tank in the
Nabuccodonosor.
