My evidence is anecdotal but pretty strong.  My UPS beeps a lot (at least
once every few days with 8-9 in the morning and especially on weekends being
a prime time for power trouble).  These are all short events (less than a
second).  I don't know whether they are spikes or sags.  The fairly large
number of short events is not unique to my house. Several local UPS user I
have talked to notice that their UPS beeps a lot.  For example, just
recently the clerk at Battery Direct said the UPS beeped often enough there
that it was beginning to get on her nerves.  She was quite happy to hear
that you can turn off that audible alarm for many UPS models.

Is there any UPS user in the Victoria area on this list that doesn't
encounter several short power events per week?
