 I have an Nforce4x chipset MB with a Sempron2800 running a software raid5
and raid0 setup across 6 drives using the onboard 2-2port SATA controller
and a 4port Promise TX4 card.

 The only gotcha is with the onboard Nforce (forcedeth) controller. I had to
load the driver using poll_interval=500 optimization_mode=1 otherwise it
generates an interrupt every Rx/Tx.

 It easily swamps the 2 gigabit conntections.
