[Discuss] linux packet capture speed

Hi, all,
I need to set up a machine to do a packet capture. The advice I'm
seeking is in two parts:

1) Is kernel 2.6 preferable to 2.4 in terms of keeping up with a
100Mbps pipe full of packets?
2) Is there a chance that I should use OpenBSD instead of linux?
