[Discuss] SATA RAID & Opteron

Just in case anyone else runs into this - the Promise SX4300 is a fakeRAID
and did not work at all under any Linux environment I tried. Promise tech
support was pretty useless too, suggesting I use RedHat 9 in order to get
the card to work! Not addressing the obvious reasons not to do so with my
fancy 64-bit dual-core cpus.

On the upside, I managed to get some 3Ware 9500s-4 cards, real RAID, and
they work flawlessly under the 2.6 kernel, with all drives appearing as a
single huge drive when installing the OS.
