David,
I'm using a BackUps XS 1200 in my home office I paid $100 for at a
sale last christmas. Bit larger then what you need but I found the
extra capacity just means extra run time. Only downsides to the XS is
a) it doesn't have the plug in the back for a battery pack that the RS
version has, b) the BackUps series don't produce as clean a sine wave
as the SmartUps and c) you can't get an SNMP module for the BackUps,
which is optional on the SmartUps.
In my situation, none of those were any real concern because a) my
load is low enough I have the runtime I need, b) it's only going to
kick in for maybe 5min while my servers go into shutdown so a less
then perfect AC sine wave isn't an issue, and c) I don't use SNMP,
just the USB cable w/ monitoring software.
Quality wise, I've hung two Dual Athlon MP servers and a Athlon 64 X2
workstation off it for the last year, at around 50% load, and I've
never had a hiccup.
